The Shining Girls: A Novel by Lauren Beukes This novel was interesting in a weird way. It involves a time-traveling serial killer. The ending of the novel leaves it open for a sequel. This novel was not a fan favorite mainly because the character development of the serial killer was missing. Because of the time-travel element, some readers were confused it jumped around. Additionally, one would expect more suspense for a serial killer, and the foreshadowing had no purpose. The "shining" was not developed, and it lacked a back story which would have engaged readers more. One reader stated, "It was like trying to make sense out of something that doesn't make sense." | Meeting Attendance Karla Lori |
