Readers liked the novel on the whole. However, the connection with the character is a bit broken because she comes off as a bit of a brat, but she has been through so much, but the reader does not know all of it, or even enough to feel sympathy for the protagonist. A fuller character development of the protagonist would help the reader feel more of a connection. Maybe more internal dialogue for Victoria, so the reader can connect more with her and understand why she does the things she does.
The organization of the novel flipping back and forth from present to past tense works well with this particular novel. The author expertly ends each chapter with a feeling for the reader, so the reader anticipates the change.
The most interesting part was the fact that flowers have different meanings. The scents and the colors add to the meaning and how each flower affects people in different ways.
Readers felt that the author unloaded too much information in the end. In addition, readers felt that the situational irony when comparing Victoria  and her biological mother should have been realized by Victoria. ​
