Gap Creek by Robert Morgan BOOK SUMMARY
Club Discussions: We discussed the role of women during the turn of the century and compared their lifestyle with our own. The main character, Julie, was a "work horse," which many of us said we would not have been able to work as hard as she did. We also talked about Hank's behavior throughout the novel and compared his actions in the beginning, middle, and end and noted that he did change throughout. Most of us liked the novel; however, one or two did not, and it mainly stemmed from reading about the hardships and the loss of the baby. It was noted that while life was (and is) hard, people continued to have faith that they would have what they needed when they needed it.
