People make bucket lists because it is a way to follow dreams and accomplish goals. I personally want to live life to the fullest and hope to one day complete my bucket list. I like to keep a bucket list and add in any new, fun, or interesting things that I would like to do or accomplish before I die. It’s always an exciting feeling when I cross things off my bucket list. I enjoy going through it and thinking of all of the memories that I have checked off. Bucket lists can leave you feeling accomplished and like you’re living the life you’ve always dreamed of. Doing is always better than just dreaming so why not write down everything you want to do in life and go for it! 10/1/2013 04:15:35 am

I believe that people make bucket lists so they can keep track of everything they do in their lives. It gives people goals to try and accomplish through out their lives. Things put on bucket lists could be a whole variety of different thinks, big or small. People can add new goals or take any of them away at anytime. Making bucket lists starting in your teenage years is probably one of the best times to start one in my opinion. I say that because when you are a teenager it is definitely the years of your life when your imagination is all over the place thinking about the things you plan on doing with your future. When you grow older you can look back on these bucket lists at anytime and see if anything you wanted to do when you were younger can now be accomplished. I think its a great way to keep yourself motivated because if you really set your mind to things you can accomplish most things that are put on your bucket list. I have had a bucket list since the 9th grade and every year I add so many more things. I think its a great idea especially to write down all your dreams you wish to come true one day. 10/1/2013 04:17:56 am

Bucket lists started to become more popular after the movie "The Bucket List" came out. I love the idea of a bucket list. Basically, it is a list of things you want to do before you die. I do have one, and I am constantly adding more things to it. I think it is very important because it helps to remind me that I can't let things get in the way of my goals. Life is short and you have to live every moment to the fullest. Some of the things on my bucket list are to throw a coin in the Trevi fountain, save a life and see the pyramids. 10/1/2013 04:20:05 am

I like how you added, "I think it is very important because it helps to remind me that I can't let things get in the way of my goals." I never thought of this when thinking of bucket lists. Also, I hope you accomplish a particular item on your bucket list which is to save a life. I think that is a great thing to have on there, and it will be an amazing accomplishment. Good luck!

A bucket list, as defined in the dictionary, a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime. These lists can contain simple things, such as to pass a class or make a new friend. People also want to accomplish extreme things, such as to go skydiving or to travel the world. Big or small, anything can be added to a bucket list. 10/1/2013 04:21:15 am

I liked how you defined what a bucket list is to start of your response. Also I chuckled slightly when you mentioned that some people put on their bucket list to make a new friend because it is something I would actually put on my bucket list, if I had one. I do not have an "official" bucket list either, but I guess at some point in my life I have to start thinking of things I would like to accomplish during my lifetime also. Finally, what would you like to get your doctoral degree on?

I really like that you started with a definition to remind the readers what it is you planned on talking about before you began. Also, I love that you included a whole list of things on your bucket list. Good luck with all of your goals and don't forget their importance.

I believe that people make bucket lists as a way of reminding them to never stop dreaming. If one composes a list of things that they wish to accomplish in their life they are more likely to actually do the things on their list. My mother makes a list of things she needs to do everyday and as she does them she crosses them off. So in a way a bucket list is like an organizer that you will reference for a span of many years. I do not have a formally written bucket list but I have things that I hope to do and see in my life time. For example I wish to go to Moldova and adopt a child as a way of giving back to those less fortunate. I want to see on of the seven wonders of the world and I want to have a positive influence on someones life so that when I pass away I can know for sure that I changed someone's life for the better. Of course I might write the list down some day and I will always add on to it but for know I want to keep it short and sweet. 10/1/2013 09:38:29 am

A bucket list is a list of things that people would like to accomplish before they die. To certain people, a bucket list can be more than just a list of things that they would like to accomplish but something that means more to others as well. For example, in the show, "The Buried Life," the guys help a person achieve a goal on his or her list for every thing that the guys accomplish on their list. Personally, I don't have a bucket list, but I do have a list of things that I would like to achieve such as give a speech in front of a large crowd. There is no real reason why I do have a bucket list; I have just been to lazy to write one of my own. If I were to make a bucket list of my own, I would be sure to help another person accomplish something on their list for every one thing I did on mine. 10/1/2013 09:40:39 am

I was reading your post, and I think you have your thoughts all jumbled. You said you, "don't have a bucket list, but I do have a list of things that I would like to achieve such as give a speech in front of a large crowd." This was stated after you said, "A bucket list is a list of things that people would like to accomplish before they die." If you have a list of things you want to accomplish, by your own definition, it would be a bucket list.

I think people create Bucket Lists because they think it is cute or trendy. I've never met anyone, aside from some teenage girl on Tumblr, that created a bucket list. These people only created a bucket list to say they made a bucket list. The thing is that the items on this list are ridiculously cliche like skydiving, swimming with sharks, or going to Paris. Therefore, I've never made a bucket list, and, similarly, I do not plan to ever make a bucket list. If I want to do something, I will do it. I do not need to write it down in a systematic, organized manner to share with all my trendy friends and gratify myself. 10/1/2013 09:43:40 am
Well, Sam, what can I say? Now you have actually known someone other than a teenage girl on Tumblr who has created a bucket list. Believe it or not, skydiving is NOT on my list. I'm very fearful of heights--I don't do Ferris Wheels, but I can handle roller coasters because they are fast. My list contains an entry about being a published author. In addition, I think it is always a good thing to write down one's goals and dreams because during our low points in life, and believe me you will have some, the list provides some solace that one is never worthless. Think about it...

I disagree with you because you have a very judgmental position about this. Bucket lists are not only made by "some teenage girl on Tumblr", and so what if it is just a teenage girl on Tumblr? Everyone should have goals in life and it is good to keep track of them to feel a sense of accomplishment and like one is living the life that he/she wants to live. Whether it's a teenage girl on Tumblr or a grown, knowledgeable professor, a person is a person and should not be defined by a labeled name, however, should be defined by their character and their journey towards their goals and accomplishments in life. You are trying to put down others and go against what you think as ‘typical’ instead you should open up and not be so stereotypical.

When one thinks of a bucket list and what might be on a bucket list, they usually think of sky diving and bungee jumping; however, some people get more in depth with it, and put on things like fall in love and live to see their grandchildren. No matter the content, more and more people have been making bucket lists in today's society. Many people acquire bucket lists because it reminds them of the adventurous goals and dreams they want to accomplish before they die. I personally do not have a bucket list. Looking too far into the future has the ability to scare me. I am also a very compulsive person, and if I had the need to go sky diving one day, I would just go out and do it. Other than that, I like to keep my thoughts in the past as it reduces my stress. A bucket list is something I never thought of making or having, but in the future, if I feel the need to write out a list of things in life I may or may not accomplish I will be sure to let my favorite English 12 class. :-)

I like how you started off your comment; rather than just stating what a bucket list was you gave multiple examples of what a bucket list is to some people. Also, I really admire the fact that you see yourself as compulsive because I feel as though I am the same way as you, if there is something that I want to do, I wouldn't write it down a piece of paper and dream about it, I'd go do it (with the exception of things that are out of my hands until the future that is). One thing that I would like to know is, what will you let your favorite English 12 class? :-)

If I had a bucket list, one thing that would definitely be on there is to proofread... EVERYTHING. Thanks for catching that Steve, really it means a lot. Comments are closed.
