Each entry should have the following: Book Title: Today's Date: Pages Read: ___ - ____ Sentence Starters: (these are only samples, you can come up with your own) While I was reading, I felt confused when... I was distracted by... I started to think about... I got stuck when... the time went quickly because... a word/some words I did not know... I stopped because... I lost track of everything except... I figured out that... I first thought ____ but then realized that... I finally understood... I remembered that earlier in the book... I really liked... I can't believe... it seems unrealistic that... I enjoyed... some questions I had... a reading strategy I used... |
During Literature Circles
Take notes about the information that the group discusses.
Ideas: Who likes the book? Who doesn't? Who are the characters? How do they interact? What is the setting? What is the main theme of the book? What is the tone and style of the book? What does this do for the reader? What do you know about the author? Does his/her life play a part in the book? Does the author use figurative language? Where? What does this do for the reader? Are there real world connections that can be made with the book (setting, characters, themes, etc.)? |
