Greetings! Welcome to my writer's website.
All my life, I've been an avid reader. I enjoy mystery and thriller, but five years ago, I started a book club, so I could expand my reading horizons beyond Mary Higgins Clark and James Patterson. Then, in 2011, I took four graduate courses at Penn State Lehigh Valley. The goal was to earn a certificate in writing and literacy. Never did I think that it would be the beginning of my life as a creative writer.
While I didn't focus my energy on writing, I continued to incorporate best practices in my classroom. Oh, did I forget to say that I've been teaching high school English for eleven years? It didn't slip my mind. It is the most prestigious opportunity and success of my adult life. But that was before I was accepted into the Maslow Family Graduate Creative Writing Program at Wilkes University.
My acceptance into this wonderful program has changed my life as a writer and a teacher. The program is a blend of online courses and residencies, both of which I enjoy immensely. It gives me the opportunity to be totally autonomous and work with a mentor, as well as build a writing community with other people who are at different stages of writing. The biggest draw of the program is the thesis for the MA program. I wrote a 302-page, 79,700 word, mystery novel. It is my goal to have that novel published.
Anyway, enough about my writing life. I also have a semi-private life with my husband of almost 30 years. I have two grown children, who both work in the medical field, and I have a wonderful Golden Retriever mix dog, Frankie, that I trained to be a therapy dog. Just look at his face! He's one of the loves of my life.
